Why Are There Usage
Guidelines?
Juniper Networks, Inc.
(“Juniper”) is providing this online community as a service to you, our
customers and partners to help you exchange ideas, tips, and information about
Juniper’s technologies. These communities are here for the benefit of all
members. The communities are accessible to all who register.
As with any community,
live or virtual, members must follow certain rules and norms to ensure a
beneficial and enjoyable experience. We provide these guidelines here so that
you know what is required and expected of you, and other members, when using
the forums. By registering, you agree to follow both these usage guidelines and
the Terms of Service agreement that you agreed to when registering for the
Juniper online community. In addition to any remedies set forth in the Terms of
Service, your violation of the usage guidelines and/or the Terms of Service may
result in the temporary or permanent suspension of your access privileges to
this community, deletion of content submitted by you to the community or any
other actions deemed necessary or appropriate by Juniper in its sole
discretion. These usage guidelines will be updated by Juniper from
time-to-time—please be certain to consult these regularly in order to be certain
you are complying with the rules of this community.
This
is your community, but please remember
that you share it with others.
Usage Guidelines
We are here to help
If you are new to the
forums and are unsure about anything, just ask. The moderators and other
participants are always happy to help. A moderator avatar easily identifies
Juniper moderators.
Be a Valued Member of
Your Community
Keep it Relevant
For everyone’s benefit,
stay on topic. We should strive together to be helpful to one another and
discuss information that would be beneficial to other members of the community
and provide relevant insight which is on-topic and warrants good feedback via
the rating system. Before posting, consider whether the material is both
appropriate and relevant.
Just as in a live
community, you want to build a personal reputation of trustworthiness and of
professional distinction. Juniper will continue to enhance the community rating
system that will allow you to gain a reputation as a knowledgeable member and allow
others to identify you as a valued contributor.
Be Respectful
Everyone wants a
positive experience in the community, please be gracious to your fellow
members. Juniper, at its sole discretion, may remove any members or messages
that are unethical, insulting, abusive, offensive, threatening, harassing, or
acting in any similar manner, this includes members or messages that practice
or involve illegal activities or those that violate or disregard these
guidelines or the Terms of Service.
Avoid posting the same
question in multiple discussions. Try to identify the best place for your
question and post it there. If in doubt, ask. Multiple postings are annoying to
your fellow members and to the community moderators who remove them.
Additionally, they are difficult for you, the poster, to track.
Be Yourself
Pretending to be
someone else is not acceptable; be it another member, a community moderator
(who is always identified with an avatar), or a representative of a legitimate
organization. You may; however, select to use a screen name in order to remain
anonymous.
No Commercial Activity,
Advertising or Solicitation
Commercial activity is
strictly prohibited in this community. These forums may not be used to post or
discuss pricing, discounts, availability, margins or any other matters related
to the purchase, sale or exchange of Juniper products or services of those of
any other entity. You must also refrain from posting any content that would
constitute advertising, junk mail, spam, chain letters, or any other form of
solicitation of vendors, customers, products, services, or personnel
. If you do post any such commercial material or engage in any
advertising, spam or solicitation, Juniper will remove such content and your
account from the community.
Be Cautious
Protect your and your
company’s, private information
Do not share your User
ID and password with anyone. It is against community policy to share your User
ID and password so that others can log on with your identity.
You are solely
responsible for your actions and the information you share in the community.
Before submitting files, images or other documents ensure that you have removed
any confidential information about you or your company such as; company name,
IP addresses, etc.
Keep confidential
information confidential
You may not use online
community to disseminate or discuss any confidential information of you, your
company, Juniper or any other person or entity. You are solely responsible to
ensure that anything you post does not contain information that may be deemed
confidential by a third party. This includes any proprietary information, trade
secrets, and the terms or existence of Juniper related agreements,
nondisclosure agreements, sales or service agreements or other information that
may be deemed confidential.
Practice Good
Decision-Making
Most people are happy
to help in this community, but remember, their advice is theirs only. You are
responsible for deciding whether to follow it. It is possible that the
information you find here could be incorrect, incomplete, unclear or
misleading.
Keep in mind that other
community members have varying levels of experience and that each environment
is unique. These factors affect their decisions and advice.
Please do acknowledge
answers that help. If an answer solves your problem, post a short reply and
rate the posting. It will help others with the same or similar question, to
know what information has been helpful. Remember, someone took the time to help
you, and it important to the growth of this community that you help others
where you can.
Also, if you solved the
problem yourself, please try to post the solution. That way all of us can
benefit from the experience.
