Juniper WXC 3400 image Upgradation.

Hi Team,

I am Planing a image upgaradation in my WX 3400 device, from 5.4.6.0 to 5.7.7.0. Kindly suggest whether i can directly upgrade from 5.4 to 5.7 or we need to follow any upgradation path.(eg:- 5.4 > 5.5>5.6>5.7).

Thanks in advance.

Re: Juniper WXC 3400 image Upgradation.

Hi Ranjith,

You can directly do an upgrade from 5.4.6.0 to 5.7.7.0.

Please ensure you perform a Clean Reboot after the image upgradation.

Thanks,

Re: Juniper WXC 3400 image Upgradation.

Hi,

This is the first time I am going to do the juniper WXC image upgradation.I think we can upgrade the image through GUI and CLI.  Kindly suggest which method is more suitable for upgrading the image and please share the procedure for upgrading the image through CLI.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

The easiest method to use the GUI. if you require the detail on how to use the CLI please refer to the Admin Guide.

Re: Juniper WXC 3400 image Upgradation.

Hi Ranjith,

I agree with Danny. Upgrading the software image via GUI is the easy method.

In the WXC GUI, goto Admin -> Maintenance -> Load Boot image.

Store the software image on your local hardisk and load it from that.

After the software uplaod is successful, please dont forget to do a Clean Reboot.

If you need to do via the CLI,

1. To upgrade system software from an FTP or TFTP server:
upgrade ftp://<IP address>[:username: password]/<path and file name>
or:
upgrade tftp://<IP address>/<path and file name>
2. Type “y” to confirm upgrading the system software.
3. Reboot the device to activate the new software.

The WXc Admin guide can be downloaded from,

Re: Juniper WXC 3400 image Upgradation.

Hi,

 Thanks for the update.

I have Juniper WXC boxes in different location(peer device). Will this create any optimization issue if both the device  have  different image version. Is this recomented to upgrade the image simultaniously??

Re: Juniper WXC 3400 image Upgradation.

I'm pretty sure the upgrade process is defined in the AdminGuide.

However....

1st....upgrade the reg-server

2nd..upgrade HUB devices (usually reg-serer is on a HUB)

3rd.... upgrade spokes/remotes sites......

Also, I suggest you perform steps 1 + 2 concurrenlty.....and then potentially wait a few days to ensure you have not intorduced any issues before you upgrade your spokes.

How many core/hub WXC do you have?

How many remote/spokes do you have?

Re: Juniper WXC 3400 image Upgradation.

Hi,

Thank you for the update..

I have downloaded the image from Juniper portal. But the image size is showing only 5.5 mb. Can i use this image for upgradation???

After upgradation from 5.4.6.0 to 5.7.7.0, wether we will get the historical reports. If yes tell me how to take the historical report data back-up??

Re: Juniper WXC 3400 image Upgradation.

Hi Ranjith,

The image size would be 5.5 MB. Its a compressed image. This is the image used for upgrade.

We always recommend to do a Clean Reboot after image upgrade. Mostly after a Clean Reboot, these data will go away.

The term, Hiostorical data , i assume it as the Graphs for various modules like Comrpession, Acceleration.

If you have registered your WXC (Reg server) to a CMS server, you can view the Historical data say for Last 6 months , Last 1 month , Last 1 week..... Last 1 hour.

You can also collect the Export Data, Admin -> Tools -> Export Data.  You need a CSV analyzer to view the data.

I hope this clarifies your queries.

Thanks,

Magesh S.
