Hello everyone. The countdown is finally over. David here on the first (private) day of the CEWC 2009 in Berlin, the largest event for the Ethernet networks and service industry.

This year, the congress is all about bringing Value-Added Services to the Carrier Ethernet environment.

One day prior to the official start of the event 2009 in Berlin Tuesday - we had a Pre-conference workshop with NSN this afternoon which was only open to operators.

This seminar was timely, to fulfil the expectations of the service provider community and to provide more details around the joint venture Juniper and NSN recently announced. Today's seminar provided a perfect opportunity to bring customers further into the loop and provide a detailed overview.

During the first half of the session we scoped the advantages for service providers of the recently-announced partnership between NSN and Juniper. We also explored how MPLS and MPLS TP can work together to provide real benefits.

My presentation was also in the same vein. We posed various questions to keep the audience on their toes, such as "How can we add value to Net services? What do the alternatives look like? What does the market look like today and going forward? What is the technical outlook?"

I talked also about business benefits, especially what service providers can do with this technology.  I went on to answer all these questions by explaining the concept of value-added services plus how they can be deployed inside the network.

Juniper's Intelligent Services Edge will show that we are running this race at the front by enabling a comprehensive range of services and simplifying substantially the way services are deployed across Carrier Ethernet converged networks. I believe the next step will be the convergence of all these services into the existing CE infrastructure which perfectly integrates with the network and reduces the number of elements to manage. Saving money while improving revenue is never more compelling for service providers!
