The Ziggo Dome in the Netherlands, is one of the most modern venues where many of the world’s largest artists, like Simply Red, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande have recently performed. The Dome can seat 17000 visitors and is well known for the large advertising- and video displays on the outside of the building.

The network infrastructure is being used for a multitude of solutions such as camera’s, telephony, coin machines and WIFI for employees and visitors.  The Ziggo Dome considered deploying multiple parallel infrastructures. As Peter Kort explained: “following very diverse requirements we considered deploying separate networks for CCTV and payment traffic. The first uses significant bandwidth, the second required high level of security.” In then was decided to leverage Juniper Networks technology to build a single physical infrastructure.

The Ziggo Dome cannot be compared with an ordinary office environment. As Peter Kort explained:” if we would face a network outage during a concert, response times of four or even two hours are not sufficient, that is why we paid extra attention to the reliability of the infrastructure”.

The Ziggo Dome decided to deploy a redundant Juniper Networks core switch with Juniper Networks edge switches distributed across the building, complemented with Junos Space to assure easy of management.
