  • 1.  0mW Laser output power from one of EX4500 port

    Hi,

I have a 10GE long haul link running between 2 cities and they are terminated on EX4500 switches running 10.3R2.11 code. For past couple of weeks, the link going down very often. When I was checking the port of one of my EX4500 switch where the link is terminating, I see zero mW laser power output as shown below. Anyone noticed this issue before and what could be the problem?. I changed the SFP+ (NonJuniper LR optic) and also moved the link to another xe-0/0/xx port on the switch but that doesn't help.

I dont think the diagnotic commands will work properly on all NON-JNRP optics therefore you probably can't take the results as legit information.  I have some 3rd party optic that don't give me any information at all and others that give me everything....

Let me try replacing it with "juniper" branded LR optic (cost $2000 for one piece) and see if that help.

Actually, it is not the SFP+ or switch problem. Seems like some issue at the ISP end. I will more post more when I have full detail.

I replaced non-juniper LR optic with juniper branded and also upgraded the junos to 10.4R5.5 a month back. No issues since then.
