  • 1.  After installing EX4550 40G optional module the 40G interfaces don't show up

    I installed a 40G optional module into our new EX4550 switch and now I do not see the new 40G interfaces.

     

    When I list the interfaces I see a list of xe interfaces from xe-0/0/0 to xe-0/0/31 and then some other management type interfaces.  I do not see them under the list of virtual chassis ports either.

     

    root@pae-lab-ex4550> show virtual-chassis vc-port
    fpc0:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    {master:0}

     

    It is a brand new switch - I ran ezsetup and then we installed the new 40G optional module.  Since then I've been trying to figure out how to show and configure the interface but no luck.  Any advice or pointers will be very welcome.

    Here's the output of "show chassis hardware"

    It shows the 40G module but I'll be hanged if I can figure out how to show it with the show interfaces command.

    Hi,

     

    What version junos are you running and can you show the output of;

     

    show chassis pic fpc-slot 0 pic-slot 1

    Have you also plugged optics into one or both ports?

     

    Also interfaces will not appear as vc-port's until you convert them with the following command

     

    request virtual-chassis vc-port set fpc-slot 0 pic-slot 1 port 0

    You will need to be running junos 13.2X50-D10 or later, the closest current version available is 13.2X51-D35.

    I upgraded to 14.1X53-D25.2 and the 40G interfaces show up and work now.
