    Hi all,

I have two EX4200 stack which were working fine.

However after current failure one EX4200 cannot boot up.

I have installed new junos on that switch according to this kb:

    http://kb.juniper.net/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=KB20643&actp=search

    Now Junos are different:

    SW1

    Model: ex4200-24t
    JUNOS Base OS boot [12.3R10.2]

    SW2

    Model: ex4200-24t
    JUNOS Base OS boot [11.2R1.2]

On SW1 all ports are down, SW2 working fine. When I connect console to SW1 I see only SW2 ports with show interfaces terse command.

    So what to do ?

According to this article JunOS version must be the same.

However I can't download 11.2R1.2 version from Juniper site, because Junos started with 12 version.

How can I take JUNOS 11.2R1.2 from SW2 and install on SW1 ?

    Thanks

    You have two options:

    1. Upgrade the VC to 12.3 release

    2. Open a JTAC case and ask for a download link from where you can get the 11.2 release

Please advise KB (step-by-step description) backup/restore SW2 JUNOS (11.2R1.2) and config, then upgrade to 12.3 version. And how much will be downtime?

    Thanks

I assume that SW1 is FPC1 and SW2 is FPC2. If not, adapt the FPC numbering.

So SW1(running 12.3) should be in inactive mode. This means that logically, the VC is up, but the interfaces from the FPC that is inactive will not forward traffic.

Here is what you need to do:

    1. copy the 12.3 Junos on the VC(use the IP address from the vme interface) using scp. The file will be copied to SW2(the master).

    2. upgrade SW2 using "request system software add <jinstall...> member2 reboot

The downtime should be up to 10-15 minutes.
