  • 1.  EX4200 sees da0s1a as backup partition

    Posted 05-08-2014 09:09

Through some sequence of errors I made a stand alone EX4200 see da0s1a as backup and it has now booted from da0s2a.

It does no show the "booted from backup" error. I fixed that, but cannot get it to boot from da0s1a.

    Here's the output:

    root> show chassis alarms

did you try this 'request system reboot slice alternate' and the switch cannot boot from this partition because of the file system corruption?

Yep, tried that but it still boots from da0s2a and sees da0s1a as backup.

I don't think da0s1a is corrupted, because it did upgrade to 6.6 code.

Seems like I need a command to tell it to redefine da0s1a as primary and boot from it but can't find that command.

ok..i see what you mean...this will change during upgrades.

I don't think there is a way setting which partition is the active one on the fly(without upgrade).

    Check this:

    [edit]
root@EX# run show system storage partitions
    Boot Media: internal (da0)
    Active Partition: da0s1a
    Backup Partition: da0s2a
    Currently booted from: active (da0s1a)

      s2a        184M   altroot
      s3d        369M   /var/tmp
      s3e        123M   /var
      s4d        62M    /config

So in your case you will have to install one more time the software.

Thanks. Since I'm not getting any alarms, I'm moving forward with this as is.
