    Hi

    fpc1:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Hostname: SW-2
    Model: ex4500-40f
    JUNOS Base OS boot [11.4R5.5]
JUNOS Base OS Software Suite [11.4R5.5]

JUNOS Packet Forwarding Engine Enterprise Software Release
    JUNOS Routing Software Suite [11.4R5.5]
    JUNOS Web Management [11.4R5.5]
    JUNOS FIPS mode utilities [11.4R5.5]

Running the show virtual-chassis vc-port gives following output

    fpc0:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interface   Type              Trunk  Status       Speed        Neighbor
    or                             ID                 (mbps)       ID  Interface
    PIC / Port
    vcp-0       Dedicated           2    Down         32000
    vcp-1       Dedicated           2    Up           32000        1   vcp-0

    fpc1:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interface   Type              Trunk  Status       Speed        Neighbor
    or                             ID                 (mbps)       ID  Interface
    PIC / Port
    vcp-0       Dedicated           2    Up           32000        0   vcp-1
    vcp-1       Dedicated           2    Down         32000

Running the show virtual-chassis status gives following output  where I get Member ID 2 listed, this ex4200-48p was previously a member to the EX4500-40f in a mixed mode.

    Virtual Chassis ID: d7c8.fcc5.a309
    Virtual Chassis Mode: Enabled
                                               Mstr           Mixed Neighbor List
Member ID  Status   Serial No    Model     prio  Role      Mode ID  Interface
    0 (FPC 0)  Prsnt    GX************** ex4500-40f 128  Master*      N  1  vcp-1
    1 (FPC 1)  Prsnt    GX************** ex4500-40f 128  Backup       N  0  vcp-0
    2 (FPC 2)  NotPrsnt BQ*********** ex4200-48p

The ex4200-48f is gone and should be a member any longer.

How could the member-id 2 be deleted from the Virtual-chassi?

Based on other posts in the forum some has navigated to the shell and removed the vc.X files permanently and then re-installed the VC again.

    Any suggestions?
