  • 1.  EX4500/4550 VCP throughput

    Reading some threads here, VCP ports appear to have a speed of 32Gbps.

    EX4500 : The datasheet claims that the VC module for EX4500 has a 128G throughput, while there are only 2 VCP ports on the card. Does that mean that the ciaimed 128G throughput must be understood as : 2 x 32G ports, full duplex = 128G mono directionnal throughput ?

    EX4550 : same as above, but as the EX4550 can take 2 VC modules, it can aggregate 4 VCP ports, 32G full duplex per port, reaching 256G of unidirectionnal throughput.

    Feeling kinda disappointed...

    Did I miss something ?

    It is double counting. 32Gbps(VCP speed) * 2(number of VCP ports) *2(two directions: input and output).

    Ok, thanks for confirmation.

    In conclusion :

    EX4500 = 2 x 32G full duplex = 128G VC bandwidth.

    EX4550 = 4 x 32G full duplex = 256G VC bandwidth.

    For EX4600 and EX4300, 40G QFP are used as VCP Port (there no longer exist dedicated VC modules).

    EX4300 : 4x40G Full Duplex = 320G VC bandwidth,

    and so on...
