    Posted 07-31-2015 08:19

I have a two member EX4600 VC, RE is member 1, backup RE is 0.  I get this when attempting an ISSU:

    PRE ISSU CHECK:
    ---------------
    PFE Status : Online
Member Id not zero : Invalid
VC not in mixed or fabric mode : Valid
Member not in single node vc : Invalid
BFD minimum-interval check done : Valid
    GRES enabled : Valid
    NSR enabled : Valid
    drop-all-tcp not configured : Valid

error: System not ready for ISSU.

I presume the two 'invalid' are the checks that fail, but I do not understand what those two checks are or why they failed.

I don't believe that ISSU is supported on a virtual chassis.

I don't think that ISSU is supported on the EX4600 in VC mode, but NSSU is supposed to be. Have you followed the steps in http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/junos13.2/topics/task/installation/qfx-series-software-upgrading-nssu-virtual-chassis-cli.html ?

ISSU is not yet supported on EX4600VC or QFX5100VC/VCF.

Thanks for the input, yes it doesn't appear that ISSU is supported.  I did try NSSU, it didn't error out but it didn't work all that well either (both nodes didn't get upgraded automatically).  Funny also that some of the output of running NSSU reference ISSU.  This process seems to be in a bit of a transitional period.
