Ex-4200 intermittent switch problem

Has anyone seen intermittent traffic problems with Ex-4200s running 9.3R2.8.  We have had complaints of web servers loosing connectivity for 10 minutes and coming back on line.  We are verifying the server logs to see if the servers have NIC interruptions but nothing is indicated in the logs of the switches.  We upgraded anyway to 9.5R2.7 but the switches are supporitng very little traffic and to see this happen is frustrating.

Re: Ex-4200 intermittent switch problem

Hi AC,

I have deployed over 5 sites with EX-4200 switches and have come accross this ridiculous problem at about 50% of the sites.  I am running 9.4.  Did upgrading to 9.5 solve your issue?

Thanks,

Re: Ex-4200 intermittent switch problem

We upgraded to 9.5R2.7. So far so good we did have wierd issues like this on a few versions 9.0, 9.2 and 9.3. Everything we have is now 9.5. This has only been for a couple of weeks. I will be happy when I see 6 months of uptime at least. I would upgrade but defintiely escalate to your account manager.

Re: Ex-4200 intermittent switch problem

Is it just web (port 80 and 443) that is the problem? Or is it all services/ports?

Have problems on my own 4200 VC (  http://forums.juniper.net/jnet/board/message?board.id=switch&thread.id=879 ) that I lose contact with port 80/443 on random servers.

Re: Ex-4200 intermittent switch problem

It is, as if the servers go offline.  Not just port 80 and 443.  We could not ping them and our LB could not get a health check.

Re: Ex-4200 intermittent switch problem

We got the message below yesterday.  It sounds like from JTAC that version 9.5R2.7 is still having problems.  They said that we should either downgrade now if we are having problems or wait for 9.6 in the next week or so.

Technical Bulletin Subject: JUNOS Service Release 9.3S4.1 for the EX-series Switch service impacting issues resolved <br>

Re: Ex-4200 intermittent switch problem

I would recommend to use "S" releases in production at all times (at least with VC's). I've seen some stability problems with different "R" releases and after running "S" code everything just seemed work.

This was in an enterprise environment with 2 stacks of each 6 EX4200's and a 2x 10G 802.3ad LAG between them...
