  • 1.  Firmware versions available, recommended and discontinued?

Just as there are Junos OS version paths, I wish to know similar information about system/chassis firmware versions.

We have system firmware version 3.5.0 on the EX8208 and I wish to know what options we have for upgrading and support:

    > show system firmware
Part             Type           Tag Current   Available Status
                                        version   version
    FPC 0            U-Boot         0   3.5.0               OK
    FPC 1            U-Boot         0   3.5.0               OK
    FPC 2            U-Boot         0   3.5.0               OK
    FPC 5            U-Boot         0   3.5.0               OK
    FPC 7            U-Boot         0   3.5.0               OK
Routing Engine 0 RE BIOS        0   3.5.0               OK
    Routing Engine 1                0   3.5.0               OK

Is there a similar page for firmware versions for various Juniper routers/switches just as there are for the Junos OS?

Example Junos OS versions site: Junos OS Supported Versions

    Thank you

    Hi,

These system firmware versions aren't upgraded very often, but will generally be done as part of a Junos upgrade if required.

Unless there is a specific defect to be fixed, it is rare that you would upgrade them independently (and most likely the fixed firmware would be bundled as part of a Junos upgrade).

So in short - you don't need to worry about upgrading internal firmware - it is done for you as needed when you move between Junos versions.

    Hope this helps
