  • 1.  Hard Code 10GB speed and duplex

Has anyone found a way to connect a 10 GB fiber module to a hard coded 1 GB connection.  Our internet provider has the cable hard coded to 1000MB full duplex and our Juniper EX4200 will not connect with the 10 GB fiber GBIC.  I don't currently have a 1 GB GBIC and would really like to not have to leave the old switch up for just one port.  Any suggestions?

to the best of my knowledge, a 10G optic will only run at 10G and can not be stepped down. if you have the EX4200 uplink module that can be either 4x1G or 2x10G, you can convert it to the 4x1G mode (requires a reboot), and use a 1G optic if one is available. will
