    Hi,

I'm new at Juniper switches. I have to compare different switches and ports and choose the best one. First of all my work it's to make a LAN in "star's structure" between 3 buildings (less than 1Km between buildings):

    - The main (A)  will receive Internet and support a server (10Gbps), 30 computers (less than 100 meters and 1000baseT), and support the other buildings (1Gbps to B; 10Gbps to C).

    - B will conect with A as I said and 12 computers (less than 100 meters and 1000baseT).

    - C will conect with A, with 40 computers (less than 50 meters) and a server (10 Gbps).

I have choosen an EX8208 in A and C with a EX8208 48T and a EX4200 24T in B uplink SFP. I ask if it will serve and for a recomendation for an optic fiber.

    Regards,

    Thank you all.

What kind of traffic do you need to support? To be honest on throughput I dont think you need 8208 but you could do easily with 4200 virtual chasis with 10 G uplink modules or 4200/4550 mixedmode virtual chassis. It's when you need hughe buffering (high quality video for example) or a lot of routing capabilties I would chose 8208 on your description.

It's an Ethernet conexion through optical fiber. Internet arrives in A.

    - Internet to A by GBE 1000baseLX

    - A, B and C to their computers by 1000baseT (short distance).

    - A to B by 1Gbps (750 meters, fiber)

    - A to C by 10Gbps (250 meters, fiber)

    - A and C to their CPD by 10Gbps

I think about using the chasis EX8208 in A and C with EX8200 48T and in B use EX4200, but I don't know if the last oune got a transceptor inside or its only the chasis. The mixmode 4200 work well , isn't it only a chasis?

PS: where could I find technical information about this products? I mean, minimun and maximun receiver's power, laser power, wavelength, etc. In the web I only found about dimensions and number of ports.

    Best regards,

    so usefull information, thanks!

There's realy  a lot of iionformation here. http://www.juniper.net/us/en/products-services/switching/ex-series/#literature  I'll look up optical specs later. It's allready late here.

http://www.juniper.net/us/en/local/pdf/datasheets/1000215-en.pdf n the last page (ordering information) the availbe optics are listed.
