  • 1.  LACP AE between EX4500 and CAT6500

    Hi everyone,

I have a LACP Etherchannel on a Cisco Catalyst 6500 to two EX4500 in a virtual chassis.  Cabling is as follows:

    Catalyst 6500 port 5/1 to EX4500 PFC0 port ge-0/0/0

    Catalyst 6500 port 5/2 to EX4500 PFC0 port ge-0/0/1

    Catalyst 6500 port 6/1 to EX4500 PFC1 port ge-1/0/0

    Catalyst 6500 port 6/2 to EX4500 PFC1 port ge-1/0/1

My problem is this:  During failover testing, I rebooted the EX4500 that is the backup RE (PFC1) to see if the AE would stay up.  It did not! I totally lost network connectivity to the entire EX4500 stack, plus the test switch hanging off of it.

Can you guys please check my configs to see if there's any errors?

    Make sure you have:

    set chassis redundancy graceful-switchover

    configured in your EX4500 VC

is this a VC of only two switches?  if so, you need to disable split-detection:

    set virtual-chassis no-split-detection

Yes!  set virtual-chassis no-split-detection fixed the problem.  Thanks Will.
