  • 1.  Latest version for J2350

    Posted 05-22-2015 10:50

I thought that I could upgrade my router to version 12.3R9.4 just like my switch EX2200-C,

but on the Juniper site it is confusing.

I am confused by Flow mode software.

The first line does not say Flow mode software.

It seems that the version is lower, such as 12.1X44-D50

Also, when upgrading some EX2200 switches there was a caveat that if the existing version was previous to  version 10 or something, I had to do a jloader and then go to version 10 something first, or maybe it was vesion 11 and then to 12. Does this apply to the router upgrading as well??

Is this right or am I missing something?

Also, am I good to go on memory sizes and space?  Here are my specifics:

The total size of the downloaded upgrade file is 202M

     memory sizes:

1 Gig DRAM   : Total memory              1024 MB Max

    Compact flash: ad0     967 MB

available room in / is 383M  :: after cleanup 601M

Thank you very much. I think this means that I will gain JFlow cabability. Or does the first software version D50 have JFlow as well? It is confusing because on the download page all the versions talk about Flow Mode software EXCEPT the first choice.

Will I have any licensing issue. When you go to the download page it states under all the software versions, except for the first one at the top, that licensing is required for Advanced BGP. I have already upgraded to the top version on my three J routers. Will I have any issues if I switch to the version they recommend regarding Advanced BGP licensing? I guess another way of asking this: does the version D50 allow advanced BGP without the licensing requirements, or does it just not include Advanced BGP?

Also, I have never gone to a lower version of JunOS, is this just simply doing a software add as I did when I upgraded each router and switch? Are there any special steps for downgrading?

    I appreciate your knowledge, thanks.

UPDATE: I have downgraded my J2320 to D45.2 and no problems so far.  Thanks, although I still have the above questions regarding advanced BGP and Flow Mode Software and software versions.

    thanks,

Licenses are generally preserved through OS upgrades and down grades.  But if it is lost and starts throwing the commit warnings you just need to log into the support portal and get the code again.  If there are no commit warnings all is good.

If you have issues accessing the license portal open a customer care case to gain the access.
