    show system processes extensive returns:

    last pid:  3491;  load averages:  0.01,  0.08,  0.07  up 7+13:33:51    12:00:42
    110 processes: 3 running, 87 sleeping, 20 waiting

    ....

Are these 1%, 8% and 7% of available CPU resources?

    Thanks

Yes and no - see http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/9001

The linked article gives a good overview of Unix CPU load averages which applies to Junos (FreeBSD).

In your sample 0.01 is the 1 minute CPU load average, 0.08 is the 5 minute CPU load average, and 0.07 is the 15 minute CPU load average.

You can use 'show snmp mib walk jnxOperatingCPU' on the device to get CPU utilization or you can use SNMP.

You would want SNMP .1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.1.13.1.8.x.x.x.x to get routing engine CPU usage where x.x.x.x is the routing engine ID. You can run 'show snmp mib walk jnxOperatingDescr' to get the RE ID or you can SNMP query against .1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.1.13.1.5 to get the same information.
