  • 1.  Logging into the console port of EX2200 gives me a bash prompt?

    I'm trying to get a handle on the EX2200 switch recently installed in our office. I solved the problem of getting connected via console port by hard rebooting the switch and resetting the root password during bootup. That all went fine, but now I'm ineterested in getting J-Web and SSH up and running. 

     

    I'm reading the operator's manual and it's giving a bunch of Junos-related commands. However, when I connect to the switch via the console port using Minicom, I get a bash-like environment which recognizes none of the configuration commands listed in the manual. 

     

    Do I have to enter a special prompt once I'm connected? I'm not reading anything about loading up a special environment or anything like that.

    Hi,

     

    Did you try to enter "cli" when you were on bash prompt ?

    Sigh, that was it. lol 

     

    You would think that would be pertinent information in the manual!

    Well, I looked at a number of different materials. What I have in front of me right now is "Configuring Junos Basics".
