  • 1.  Port UP but disabled by STP

    Posted 12-02-2014 06:37

     Hi,

I predominately work with kit from "the other vendor" so the answer may be very simple.

We see no mac address on a EX4200 port and get no connectivity although the port is UP.

Other ports in the same vlan are working albeit on a different member of the virtual chassis

     me@ex4200> show ethernet-switching interfaces ge4/0/11
Interface State VLAN members Tag Tagging Blocking
ge-4/0/11.0 up v580 580 untagged blocked by STP

    Any help appreciated, thanks.

can you do a show spanning-tree interface? And what is plugged into this port that keeps going down?

show spanning-tree interface returns nothing for the port, it does for other ports. Various devices have been tried now, server and laptop.

    Thanks for the reply

    Hi,

create firewall filter to block mac address global BPDU. Apply to input that interface.

Without the topology, it would be blocked becuase STP determines that if the port is opened, it would create a loop. Does the device have dual NICS connected the switch?
