    Hi guys,

i am trying to find some more details about a specific syslog message, but it seems there is nothing out there to help me:

Apr 14 07:06:56  coresw /kernel: kmem type session using 85038K, exceeding limit 57344K

    Apr 14 07:06:59  coresw /kernel: rt_pfe_veto: Memory over consumed. Op 2, rtsm_id 47, msg type 10

    Apr 14 07:07:04  coresw /kernel: rt_pfe_veto: Memory over consumed. Op 4, rtsm_id 0, msg type 15

    Apr 14 07:07:09  coresw /kernel: rt_pfe_veto: Memory over consumed. Op 2, rtsm_id 47, msg type 10

    Apr 14 07:07:14  coresw /kernel: rt_pfe_veto: Memory over consumed. Op 2, rtsm_id 47, msg type 10

Apr 14 07:07:54  coresw last message repeated 8 times

Apr 14 07:07:57  coresw /kernel: kmem type session using 85039K, exceeding limit 57344K

    Apr 14 07:07:59  coresw /kernel: rt_pfe_veto: Memory over consumed. Op 2, rtsm_id 47, msg type 10

This messages occured while one of the interfaces stopped passing traffic, and at the same time CLI and J-Web were unresponsive.

The switch is a VC EX4200 with 2 physical switches, running 12.3R1.7 Junos version.

Does anyone have any docs about these messages, or any ideas why they appear?

    Thanks,

I have same problem... ex4200 does not respond an arp request and does not have the entry in the arp table.

Add me to the list.  Did you find a way to resolve it or figure out what was causing it?

I've seen these errors before on SRXs, usually when CPU is very high for a long period of time (eg: when BGP has just flapped or similar).

    Check:

    show chassis routing-engine
    show pfe pfem extensive

and see if you get any hints

Has anyone found any additional info on this error? Just had an ex3300 virtual chassis causing voip issues due to this.

    Hello,

I just saw this thread while researching a similar issue, apologies for the late reply.

As you mentioned you are running 12.3R1.7, it could be this issue, which is fixed in 12.3R2 and later, and other releases as mentioned here:

    https://prsearch.juniper.net/InfoCenter/index?page=prcontent&id=PR864551&smlogin=true

You may want to open a JTAC case to confirm.

    Cheers-
