  • 1.  Rescue-Config - Hostname not set on EX2200

    Hi,

     

    on an EX2200 when the command "request system config rescue save" is issued, the hostname is not set in the rescue-config.

    When using "show system configuration rescue" the string host-name is there, but empty.

    After a rollback and reboot from rescue-config the switch does not show up a hostname (as expected).

     

    I cross-checked this on one of our QFX5100 - here the hostname is set correctly in the rescue-config.

     

    Is this a bug and can anyone confirm this?

     

    EX2200 running Junos 12.3R12

    I do not see this on an ex2200 running 12.3R12 here. Does your hostname have any unusual characters?

    Hostname is Test-SW-001 - nothing special.

    I will try to fetch another EX2200 and see if it has the same behavior

    Please try to use hostname with 8 characters or less.

    Our hostnames typically exceed 20 characters and the official max supported is 255 characters. What is the eight character limit a reference from?

    On the second EX2200 the hostname is set correct - i will try to re-image the first ex2200 to check if this was related to a faulty image. But I'm curious now - on some Switches we have hostnames with 30 Characters (like the Core) - this works fine. Why should I use only 8 Chars?
