  • 1.  Using the EX-UM-4SFP uplink modules to build a virtual chassis.

    I have two IDF's on one floor of a building about 200' apart.

    I have an EX4200-48 switch in each IDF.

    Can I use the EX-UM-4SFP installed in each one to establish a virtual chassis between the two switches? With only one switch in each IDF should I use a single fiber link between them or two?

    Can another SFP on each card then be fiber connected to the router in a separate MDF as an aggregated interface (ae0) from the virtual chassis?

    Reason I ask is I can only find ref. to doing this using the other model uplink cards and not the EX-UM-4SFP. But maybe I haven't looked hard enough......

    Yes to both questions, and I would use two uplinks for the VC connection for redundancy.
