    Hello everybody,

I have a question which i hope you can help me with:

    I Configured my 3 EX-4200 Switches in a VC.

    set virtual-chassis preprovisioned
    set virtual-chassis member 0 role routing-engine
    set virtual-chassis member 0 serial-number xxxxxx1
    set virtual-chassis member 1 role routing-engine
    set virtual-chassis member 1 serial-number xxxxxx2
    set virtual-chassis member 2 role line-card
    set virtual-chassis member 2 serial-number xxxxxx3

Means I have the Interfaces ge-0/x/x (RE), ge1/x/x (BK) and ge 2/x/x (LC)

    My Question is:

What happens if we have a power-loss and the BK Switch comes up first and becomes RE?

Will Clients once connected to the BK now get the config for the RE or is the switch "intelligent" enough to get that he needs to use the ge-1/x/x interfaces instead of ge-0/x/x?

I hope you know what i mean.

The assignment of the interface numbering is static.

No matter the FPC1 is RE or BK, its interfaces will always be ge-1/X/X

For instance, suppose FPC0 is RE and you configure OSPF only for few interfaces from FPC0(ge-0/X/X).

You have a power outage and FPC0 never comes back online. Only FPC1 and FPC2.

Then you will not have any ge-0/X/X interfaces up and the OSPF will not work.

I hope this is what you are looking for.
