Re: multicast without IGMP querier

Strange, we started IGMP queryer, but nothing changed! All multicast groups are still flooded around even if I put server interface into 'multicast-router-interface' :-(

root@juniper> show igmp-snooping membership detail
VLAN: iptv Tag: 82 (Index: 9)
    Router interfaces:
        ge-0/0/1.0 dynamic Uptime: 00:00:08 timeout: 14
   Group: 233.33.33.3
     ge-0/1/0.0 timeout: 23 Last reporter: 192.168.14.5 Receiver count: 1, Flags: <V2-hosts>

Any idea what is wrong?

Do you have the EFL license installed?

Re: multicast without IGMP querier

No. Is it not possible to filter unwanted multicast streams (even with igmp queryer) without EFL ?

Hello,

Have you been able to find a solution?

In your case, you should change some IGMP settings on the receiver so that it send IGMP Join/Report periodically for the wanted Mcast groups because an IGMP Snooping switch in pure L2 will no be able to send IGMP Report Query to seek for 'alive' subscriber/receiver, in order to reset the IGMP Snooping timer.

Just to explain: without this IGMP Snooping timer, Multicast will flow eternally if a Subscriber Application was shut without sending a IGMP Leave message. You can change the IGMP Snoping timers (by changing the IGMP timer Query-interval, max 1024s for IGMP that will result in 2052s timer for IGMP Snooping).

Regards, Fabian.
