Is the output of "show pfe route ip" used for finding nexthop and outgoing interface ? is any other table referred for making these decisions ?

So the Packet Forwarding Engine forwarding table is used to find out nexthop and outgoing interface ?

    thanks.

Juniper also does provide some answers. A quick search will pull up some inforamtion to answer such questions, for example:

Is the output of "show pfe route ip" used for finding nexthop and outgoing interface ? is any other table referred for making these decisions ?
That command shows the IPv4 routes that the PFE currently use to forward packets.
    >show route forwarding-table
The routes in the forwarding table are selected from the active routes in the routing table or those placed there with a policy and placed in a forwarding table in the RE. This table should be very similar or a copy if system is running default configurations.
So the Packet Forwarding Engine forwarding table is used to find out nexthop and outgoing interface ?
    yes

Also there is an entry for slot 0 and slot 1 in "show pfe route ip". Do these slots refer to linecards ?

    Hi,

May I request for the configuration appeared in your device?

show pfe route ip displays routes in packet forwarding engine table.

    You may check this:

I do not think you are really reading the explanation carefully.

The Routing Table is in the Control Plane. Active routes selected from the routing table is placed in a forwarding table which is in the control plane. That fprwardint table is the same forwarding table that is synched with the forwarding table in the Packet forwarding engine. >show route forwarding table reveals the contents of the FT that lives in the Control plane. Please read what I just gave and see if this is any different. Anyways, you can always search junipers website for more information. Or I will allow someoelse to explain much more clearly.
