Juniper serial cable

Dear all,
I got a problem when connecting juniper j-series using cisco serial cable to external modem(56k)
it seems no cable attached to the router
This problem also did in cisco router, I can't use juniper serial cable on cisco
is there any restriction?

Cisco's tend to use twisted cables, i.e. pins 1-8, 2-7, 3-6 etc

 

Juniper do not

 

You say though you have a Cisco, a Juniper, and a cable for each. 

Doesn't a Cisco work with a cisco cable and Juniper with Juniper cable ?
