  • 1.  EX4300 Switch software Rollback upon power loss

    Posted 09-13-2016 06:40

    We had a power bump and our virtual chassis rebooted resulting in a software rollback to a previous version. Why is this?

    I had recently upgraded to JunOS 14.1X53-D35.3 and did the reboot after the upgrade and verifie the software was upgraded with show version.

    The virtual chassis was running 14.1 for about a month until they were shutdown and booted into 13.2X51-D26.2 (the previous JunOS on the chassis).

    Hi h.solo,

    This could be because the primary partition got corrupted due to the power bump and the backup partition/software was used to come back up.
    You may have to upgrade the switch back again, in case the backup partition was not in the same version as the primary.

    This is explained in the below kb as well;

    I would also note that after any Junos upgrade or configuration change the alternate boot media should be updated with the noted snapshot commands.  This gets the up to date software and configuration to the alternate boot partition.
