    Hello, I have the following: ID: MPCE Type 3 3D FRU Model Number: MX-MPC3E-3D ID: 1X100GE CFP FRU Model Number: MIC3-3D-1X100GE-CFP The documentation for the MX-MPC3E-3D says that it only supports L2.5 VPN (CCC, VPLS etc), yet I have L3VPN instances running on these MPC line cards. Can someone explain the discrepancy? JUNOS Base OS Software Suite [13.2R4-S2] According to the documentation, I need to use MX-MPC3E-3D-R-B for full L3VPN functionality. http://www.juniper.net/us/en/local/pdf/datasheets/1000294-en.pdf Ta

    Hi,

     

    The model numbers MX-MPC3E-3D and MX-MPC3E-3D-R-B refer to identical hardware. The difference is in the license. The license operates on an honour system. Therefore, I believe that without the license, your configuration will work, but if/when it comes to obtaining support for that feature on that card, JTAC may refuse.

     

    That's my understanding at least.
