OSPF Trace

[edit protocols ospf]

user@routers# show
traceoptions {
      file ospf-trace size 64k files 5 no-world-readable;
      flag event details;
      flag error details;
}
area 0.0.0.0 {
      interface ge-0/0/0.0;
      interface ge-0/0/1.0;
}

a- When ospf-trace file has created five files, it will stop logging additional information?

b- When ospf-trace file reaches the 64KB file size, it is renamed and begins a new file?

c- ospf-trace file will automatically replace any existing trace file with the same name?

d-Timestamp information will not be included for each line of ospf-trace output?

Re: OSPF Trace

Hi,

a- When ospf-trace file has created five files, it will stop logging additional information?

When a trace file named trace-file reaches its maximum size, it is renamed trace-file.0, then trace-file.1, and so on, until the maximum number of trace files is reached.
 Then, the oldest trace file is overwritten.

b- When ospf-trace file reaches the 64KB file size, it is renamed and begins a new file?
yes

c- ospf-trace file will automatically replace any existing trace file with the same name?

Do you mean when you configure ospf traceoptions and already a file with the same name exists under ospf traceoptions ?

d-Timestamp information will not be included for each line of ospf-trace output?

In the OSPF traceoptions output, you get to see all the output line with timestamp.
