  • 1.  Recover root password problem(single mode)

    Hello,

     

    i have execute a bad command and i would like to recover my password. when i boot in single-mode i do "boot -s" and after recovery when i arrive on the CLI mode, i 've a problem :

     

     

     

    Performing checkout of management services ...
    NOTE: Once in the CLI, you will need to enter configuration mode using
    NOTE: the 'configure' command to make any required changes. For example,
    NOTE: to reset the root password, type:
    NOTE:    configure
    NOTE:    set system root-authentication plain-text-password
    NOTE:    (enter the new password when asked)
    NOTE:    commit
    NOTE:    exit
    NOTE:    exit
    NOTE: When you exit the CLI, you will be asked if you want to reboot
    NOTE: the system
     
    Starting CLI ...
    root> panic: Hardware watchdog timeout NMI
    cpuid = 0
    KDB: stack backtrace:
    SP 0x0: not in kernel
    0x0+0x0 (0,0,0,0) ra 0 sz 0

    Cannot dump. No dump device defined.

    i've that after 2s and i can't use the cli single mode to recover the root password

     

    i use srx 100 with 10.0R2.10 and i tested with 10.1R1.8

    Same problem here with an SRX 210.  Have you found a solution?

    SRX240 has encountered the same trouble, too.

     

    OS: JUNOS 10.0R2.10

     

    messages: 

    Running recovery script ...
    machdep.bootsuccess: 1 -> 1

    panic: Hardware watchdog timeout NMI
    cpuid = 0
    KDB: stack backtrace:
    SP 0x0: not in kernel

    Cannot dump. No dump device defined.
    Automatic reboot in 15 seconds - press a key on the console to abort
    Exception: Cause NMI.

    Hi guys,

     

    I had the same problem. Instead if you press the reset config button for about 15 seconds until the status light goes red this completely resets the device (removes all configs), this worked for me.

     

    The device must be fully booted/online first though.
