  • 1.  Show commands to view inline NAT session on MX Series

    Posted 04-10-2013 02:57

    Hi all,

Does anybody know how to view inline NAT sessions on MX Series?
I searched juniper documents but could only find below commands.

    show service inline nat statistics
    http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/junos/topics/reference/command-summary/show-services-inline-nat-statistics.html

    show service inline nat pool
    https://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/junos/topics/reference/command-summary/show-services-inline-nat-pool.html

    Regards,

    Taichi

    Hello,

Inline NAT is stateless and there is no such thing as "inline NAT session" when inline NAT is translating packets.

Correspondingly, there are no timeouts and no TCP 3-way check etc.

    HTH

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks for the response and the advice.

Seems I didn't understand what inline NAT was.
I understood inline NAT is stateless but how can you decide the device is translating the packet correctly?
When using stateful NAT, you can just hit show commands on a device console and confirm device translating correctly or not.
It maybe possible to use flow analyzer to capture the translated packets and confirm.
But to use in customer production network, they need to buy not just MX device but flow analyzer and it will be an additional cost.
