  • 1.  Warning: 'authentication-type' is deprecated

    Hi,

     

    In older JUNOS versions one issued the set authentication-type md5 command under the area stanza to enable MD5 (or simple) authentication. In newer JUNOS version, this generates the warning Warning: 'authentication-type' is deprecated. Has someone of you more background information why this command has been gone?

    Hello,

    This was changed in 8.3 when IPSec SA authentication for OSPF was introduced.

    AFAIK, one cannot really use "regular" IPSec SA authentication for an OSPF area, "regular" IPSec (except GDOI) is point-to-point. To maintain consistency, OSPF authentication was moved under [edit protocols ospf area <id> interfaces].
