  • 1.  vlan-id 32768 to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable

    Hi there,

     

    We see the following messages repeated often on one of our EX-4300 switches.

    JunOS: 14.1X53-D35.3


    Dec 1 17:46:07 rt0.XXXX fpc0 vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
    Dec 1 17:51:07 rt0.XXXX fpc2 vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
    Dec 1 17:51:07 rt0.XXXX fpc3 vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
    Dec 1 17:51:07 rt0.XXXX fpc1 vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
    Dec 1 17:51:07 rt0.XXXX pfex: vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
    Dec 1 17:51:07 rt0.XXXX fpc0 vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable

     

    Any ideas what this message may relate to or how to track down the cause? VLAN / Bridge Domain 32768 doesn't exist on ANY of our Juniper equipment.

    Did you ever find a solution to this? We are seeing the same error whilst running a stack of 4300s on the same JUNOS version.

     

    Does anyone know if this has been fixed in later JUNOS versions?

    There is a PR "PR974332 - EX4300 : Syslog message 'vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable' periodically" regarding this issue ,these messages are harmless and this issue  is resolved in 13.2X51-D20,  15.1R1.

    However in some cases if  incomplete configuration exists, the log message occurred in the latest Junos version.

    Eg :
    set interfaces irb unit 0 family inet
    (no IP address)

    Please check on your configuration and check if the issue is getting resolved or not, if the configuration is correct then the issue should be resolved on the above versions.

    You can also filter these log messages using the following KB as example :

    Your post about having  an irb without an address allowed me quickly address my issue .. Runing 18.3 on 4300

    Yes - solved for me too.   I had an IRB (with an IP address) on an EX4300 but it was not assigned to a VLAN.    The message 'fpc1 vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable' was repeatedly in the logs.   Removed the IRB, and the messages stopped.
