NSMxpress log database query failed.

We are facing issue saying " log database query failed" while  fetching the reports from NSM running 2010r1.0 RHEL.

 

Please find the attached snap.

Saurabh,

 

Is this something you get when you just select log viewer or if any query is executed.

 

if its only when log viewer is selected, then there might be an issue with the indexes. You can check to see which date is having a problem in the /usr/netscreen/DevSvr/var/errorLog/newLogWalker.0 file. Based on the errors, you will need to navigate to that directory, stop NSM Device Server, remove the index files & restart Device Server.

 

If its only when a query is executed, suggest you reducing the time in the query  & see if it helps. Based on that we can see why the retrieve is failing.

This is still persists...

 

I have checked the indexing and all.

 

when i am trying to generate reports i see this error.

 

running 2010.r1. 

 

I have seen one PR - 502166 resolved in 2010.r2.

 

can somebody check and suggest do i need to upgrade?

 

we have escalated the matter to ATAC but still no luck...

the huge amount of log deposition per day was causing the issue while the NSMXpress was fetching the daily or the hourly report. Once we disabled that unnecessary logging on NSMXpress,the problem seemed to have resolved.

 

We just need to either disble or increase the source and destination based ip session limit which was generating the 99% of the logs from the NS-5400 being monitored by NSMXpress.
