NG TDM and voice transport over IP/MPLS

In June 2009 Juniper announced a solution for Next Generation Transport of TDM and Voice over IP/MPLS that enables enterprise organizations and service providers to transform their networks, while keeping both operational and capital equipment cost at a minimum.

If you haven't already heard, our solution enables service providers and enterprise organizations to transport "Everything" over IP/MPLS thereby reducing CAPEX and OPEX by utilizing a single IP/MPLS infrastructure to transport both legacy and native IP traffic and enabling a smooth migration to a Next Generation Network (NGN).

The Juniper products enabling solutions for Next Generation Transport of TDM and Voice over IP/MPLS include:

• CTP Series including the recently released CTP Analog Voice and Compression
• Modules, CTPOS and CTPView Updates
• BX7000 with specific focus on its TDM transport capabilities
• CE PICs for the M Series, recently released in 4Q08 and 1Q09
• ATM2 IQ PICs for M Series

This solution supports multiple applications within enterprise and service provider networks. I have listed few of these applications below

1.      Federal Government - TDM replacement.  ATM replacement.  Legacy serial encryption transport over IP.  PBX interconnect over IP.  Analog PBX extension over IP.  Radar, Radio, Telemetry and legacy video over IP.

2.      Military Networks - TDM replacement.  ATM replacement.  Legacy serial encryption over IP.  PBX interconnect over IP.  Analog PBX extension over IP.  Radar, Radio, Telemetry and legacy video over IP. 

3.      Enterprise - PBX interconnect over IP.  X.21 legacy over IP.  TDM and ATM transition to IP.  PBX off Premise Extension over IP, Leased line extension over IP, SCADA and Telemetry over IP.

4.      Service provider - SS7 over IP, TDM and Serial Managed service, TDM and ATM transition to IP, Transport  interexchange legacy Tandem switching TDM voice traffic and Mobile backhaul
