In July, Juniper announced a brand new JUNOS Fast Track Certification Program, featuring a limited-time offer of 100% discounts on all JUNOS Enterprise Certifications. To say the program was a smash success would be a gross understatement. Read more...

Why Operate – when you can Automate?

by Juniper Employee on 09-17-2009 12:30 PM - last edited on 11-09-2009 09:55 AM by Administrator Administrator

60 to 80% of IT work is repetitive. In challenging economic times, every business has a mandate to do more with less. Greater scale and lower operating cost are forces driving in opposite direction. How are you managing the demands for greater scale and enhanced functionality that introduce new complexity in your network?

I recently sat down with Jeff Mattan to discuss JUNOS and its built-in, powerful, yet flexible, tool sets for automation. Customers are embracing JUNOS to automate and simplify the configuration and operation of their networks. Watch our discussion and then check out the newly available JUNOS as a Scripting Language eLearning course.

Now Shipping: The EX8216

by Juniper Employee on 05-13-2009 01:55 PM - last edited on 08-06-2009 04:05 PM by Administrator Administrator

Juniper Networks started shipping the EX8216 on May 1, 2009, one quarter after the launch of the EX8208. Releasing two such large-scale projects back-to-back would not have been possible without the extraordinary dedication of our engineering team, and I’d like to take a moment to recognize their accomplishments. Doubling the EX8208’s density was not a trivial exercise; everything from the ASICs to power and cooling needed to be planned in advance, while systems and software had to be designed, built and tested in parallel. One advantage of this approach was that any issue found on one platform could be fixed on the other at the same time, and the EX8208 backplane and EX8216 midplane could provide identical interfaces to the EX8200 line cards. As a result, when we first powered up the EX8216 early last year, it just worked.

Run of the Numbers

When it comes to upgrading software, some say that whole upgrades are best while others claim an advantage for piecemeal updates. Long ago when Juniper demonstrated a prototype of modular upgrades, customers didn't see it as the final solution; they needed a complete system upgrade to minimize operational risk. Read more...

It seemed that having an expert-level certification would virtually guarantee that those experts would never be lacking a job. A few years later, after much hard work, I was certified under the CCIE program. Read more...
