New Kudos feature and August promotion [ Edited ]

Hi Everyone,

As you may have already noticed, we’ve implemented the new “KUDOS” feature on J-Net.

KUDOS is a positive rating system which allows you to give approval to content you find helpful. When you click the KUDOS button, you are giving the message a thumbs up. In the future, we will also implement KUDOS rating into the ranking system formula, helping users who contribute positively to the community move up the ranks faster.

To kick off this new feature, we will give away J-Net t-shirts to twenty users with the highest number of KUDOS in the month of August. We will also send a two gigabyte USB memory watch to the user with highest number of KUDOS.

So next time you see a message you find insightful or helpful, don’t forget to click on the KUDOS button next to it to reward the author.

To further reward users who have worked hard and advanced in ranks, I am happy to announce the following Kudo's weight system we will be rolling out in September. With this new system, Kudos weight will be higher for members with advanced user ranks. This new system will help the Kudos number more closely reflect actual value of a technical message, since community experts will be able to carry more weight with their Kudos votes.

The new Kudos weight system is as followed:

New User: Kudos Weight = 1    

Visitor: Kudos Weight = 1     

Regular Visitor: Kudos Weight = 1       

Contributor: Kudos Weight = 1        

Trusted Contributor: Kudos Weight = 2  
      
Super Contributor: Kudos Weight = 2        

Recognized Expert  : Kudos Weight = 3          

Trusted Expert     : Kudos Weight = 3       

Distinguished Expert    : Kudos Weight = 3

Moderators and Administrators: Kudos Weight = 3  

We hope this new Kudos weight system will make it easier for our community to identify quality content and reward content contributors. Please feel free to send me a private message or post in the feedback board if you have any questions or suggestions.
