I'm sorry to hear that you are seeing this on 7.1R1 as well; I am only aware of this issue that has been reported in 7.1R9.
I would recommend opening a case with JTAC since you are seeing this not on the build we expect.

This issue in 7.1r9 with the error "An error occurred while extracting one of the Network Connect components." will not occur on 7.2R2 ( is available for download on support site) and will also be fixed in 7.1R10 that is being scheduled. (please contact JTAC for the dates)

One of my users attempting to log in to a 7.1R9 cluster reported the same problem. I reviewed release notes for 7.1R10, but unless I am missing something I didn't see a reference to this issue as being identified/fixed. Curious as to the status on this.

We upgraded to 7.1R10, and it fixed the NC auto launch issue, but now we cant login when cache cleaner is turned on. It gives error "You do not have permission to log on". Without cache cleaner I get the login prompt and it works fine. Looks like now Host checker has broken with R10. Anyone else that has the same issue with R10 ?

As nick said cache cleaner is not supported on MAC machine so please disable the cache cleaer chdeck under the REALM.
