This message implies that there was "Internal server error". On the Backend file server check if the Netlogon service is up & running?

Everything is reported as being fine on the backend server. Also it is this one user who has reported this and there are others accessing the shared drive ok.

If you are seeing this issue only one machine - most likely this could be with the host file on the computer.
Please check if there is any host file mapping on the client computer which is suspicious. If you find any entry relevant to this resource, please delete the same and check if that resolves your issue.
Host file is under : C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
