  • 1.  IGMP report/leave and group specific query destination address?

    Hi Experts

     

    1- When the host sends the IGMP report and leave messages. What is the destination IP address? Its the multicast group address OR all-routers multicast address (224.0.0.2)?

     

    2- When the router sends the group specific query what would be the desination address? It is the multicast group address OR all-host multicast address (224.0.0.1)?

    1- When the host sends the IGMP report and leave messages. What is the destination IP address? Its the multicast group address OR all-routers multicast address (224.0.0.2)?

     

    The reports will be sent to the IGMPv3 specific multicast address 224.0.0.22.

     

    2- When the router sends the group specific query what would be the desination address? It is the multicast group address OR all-host multicast address (224.0.0.1)?

     

    Router will send query to the multicast group address.

    Thanks for the reply. For question 1, If we are using IGMP V1/V2 then in this what would be the destination address of IGMP report and leave messages?
