    hello ,

I'm kinda newbie to ospf and i have some basic question regarding DR on Junos-ospf

why do i need to configure the loopback interface under the ospf area ?  as i can see in my test lab , i have both routers on the same area with both loopack interfaces in the DR state ?  i understand that there should be one DR per segement , but i don't really understand how a router could be a DR and BDR in the same time for the same area with redundant paths.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

In JUNOS, lo0.<unit> defaults to LAN interface type for OSPF.

Configure p2p OSPF interface type and you won't see DR on lo0.<unit>:

    set protocols ospf area <area#> interface lo0.<unit> interface-type p2p

Also it's a good idea to configure lo0.<unit> as "passive" under OSPF.
