  • 1.  Apply import policy to OSPF

    Posted 05-22-2012 13:40

    Hello,

    I have a some  routers, A B Cx10,

    A is in my core

    B is a regional

C are spokes off of the regional that also connect to A

Router A via iBGP talks to B and C

Router B talks to C-routers via OSPF

Router B redistributes bgp into ospf out to the C routers.

I would like to make OSPF prefered for C-C routes, but have the BGP routes prefered to router A unless that link is lost, in which case, C would route to A through B

Confused yet?  All the routing is up and flowing, but the ospf import policy I have place on C has had no effect, basically:

from route-filter a.a.a.a/24 or longer then prefernce 200 (greater than BGP 170)

    Any ideas?

Actually the topology is not clear but generally if you like to change your OSPF preference and these routes are external routes you could use this command rather than OSPF import-policy

    # set protocols ospf external-preference <value>

If it is not what u r asking for please try to explain more about your topology.

    Regards,

    Mohamed

    Hi mhariry,

Thanks for the response, but I don't want to change the prefernce for all external ospf routes, just some.

I ended up just doing an import policy on BGP to lower the prefernce value to 90 on the BGP routes that I always want to prefer over the ones learned via OSPF.
