JTAC Recommended Releases page

Based on feedback here and from other customers, we've modified the JTAC recommended releases page for Junos.

1. We've converted it to a KB article (http://kb.juniper.net/KB21476 )  -- this allows you to Subscribe to the page and receive updates any time it changes (unfortunately all changes, great or small). The Subscribe link is at the top of the article.
2. We've modified the wording and removed the reference to the latest maintenance release. One of our criteria for selecting a release is the amount of field experience we have with the release - and the most recent maintenance release, by definition, does not have that.  In addition we've clarified that these recommendations apply to people needing to upgrade for a specific reason (a feature they need or a defect they need to avoid). It is not intended that people "keep up" - if the version you're on is working for you - stick with it. JTAC supports all releases that have not reached the End of Support (EOS) milestone.

We've put a re-direct in for the old page to automatically take you to the KB article.

How about adding the M-series, MX-series, etc.?  It would be nice to have one place to look for all platforms.

Well..there actually isn't a recommended releases page for those platforms (the only other one we have is for ScreenOS).

Why is a bit of a complicated question, but boils down to the amount of new code that went into Junos to support EX/SRX platforms when they were released and the fact that both those platforms are targeted for the the high-volume enterprise market.

We recommend reviewing the release-notes for the M/T/MX/TX platforms and when necessary contacting JTAC or your reseller for assistance.
