    Hi guys,

just a question for my understanding.

When using an SRX in chassis-cluster mode and want an active/active-usage then I will need to put reth1 in RG1 and reth2 in RG2. Lets say reth1 is 192.168.101.1 and reth2 is 192.168.202.1 so I will send traffic out ot 192.168.101.X over node0 and 192.168.202.X-traffic over node1.

But lets say if I only have one local subnet 192.168.150.1 and I also want also active/active-usage. So in my opinion it is like a load-balancing, is this then also possible ? So the SRX decides by its own when to route over node0 or node1....

I think RLAG will also not be the solution....

    Thanks and best regards,

    Christoph.

    Hello,

If you have one local LAN & one ISP, then active/active is not possible.

Production traffic travelling over Fabric link should be avoided as much as possible.

Hello, thanks for your fast reply.

and if I have one local subnet and two ISPs ... can I use in this scenario active/active-cluster for load-balanncing-purposes ?

    Hello,

If Breaking that local network into two subnets is possible then yes. This is as good as having two local lans & two ISPs.

But without breaking the network, all the traffic will come on one node & then it needs to decide which ISP to use based on FBF or any method which will require use of fabric link to send the some of the traffic to other node which should generally be avoided.
