  • 1.  Recommended versions of software

    I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a place that Juniper publishes the recommended OS versions for their devices? 

    I check this forum often, and mostly am looking at newer releases and reading the notes on those.  I also check for people posting issue's that they have with these releases.  But no where do I see any info from Juniper stating that they recommend an upgrade.  For example, I'm running both, and SRX210 and SRX240 with release 10.2R3.10.  I'm really missing the Dynamic VPN, as I don't have a RADIUS server and am hoping this is fixed by now.  But I'm really afraid of upgrading my devices unless Juniper came out and stated that they recommend the upgrades.

    There is a link to the current recommended releases on the right side of the download page for Junos.

    Go to http://www.juniper.net/support/products/junos/dom/11.1/  and look on the right side and you will see the link to Recommended Releases for EX-Series, J-Series and SRX-Series: https://www.juniper.net/customers/csc/software/junos_software_versions.jsp.

    Even though the 10.4R3 release is currently recommended, if you are having specific issues you should talk to JTAC and see if they are addressed in the recommended release.

    If you read that page carefully, you will find that JTAC recommends the current maintenance release of the listed major release. This makes 10.4r4 the current recommended release for SRX. The page is usually only updated for major releases, not maintenance releases, because of that "latest maintenance release" wording.

    Yes ! For now 10.4R3 is the current recommneded release. The next recommneded release will be 11.2R2 which will have pulse as dowwnloadable  Dynamic VPN client  and is more robust.

    Note that we've converted the Recommended Releases page for Junos to a KB article:  http://kb.juniper.net/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=KB21476. Note that this is the authoritative sourch for these recommendations.

     

    This allows you to subscribe to updates (login required, but J-Net login should work)

     

    Just got our first test of this earleir today (EX was updated)
