    Hi all,

I need some help to understand Juniper`s new licensing-model.

Since the SRX300 there are two softwarepackages / licenses to choose.

    JSB and JSE.

For my purpose, I only need JSB.

Is it correct, when I order a new device, I also order the JSB-License ?

And is it only a "right-to-use-license" which is important for audits and so on, or do I have to insert the license-key into the device.

On my current SRX300-testsystem, the output shows:

    License usage: none
    Licenses installed: none

    But everything works fine.

    So, thanks for your help.

    Regards, CHristoph.

    Hi Christoph,

the Licenses are trust-based - however to legally run the device you need to purchase JSE or JSB - without a license you are basically violating the Licensing from Juniper..

So for the SRX300 you need to Order the SRX itself (300$) and the License (JSB around 300$).

    Hi Chris,

    thanks for the fast reply.

So there is no need, to insert the key/license into the device.

    Correct ?

    Cheers, Christoph.

    Hi Christoph,

with current software versions (15.1X49) the licensing is trust-based but with later software releases the licenses will be enforced - so remember to keep your authkey around to generate a license for your device at a later stage 🙂

Thats correct, you dont have to install any license/key to device and "show system licence" will not show it.
