  • 1.  Simple - I Cannot Telnet Management interface on SRX100

    Hi,

     

    So I have my one SRX100. I configure fe-0/0/0.0 in the 'Functional-zone' management.

     

    I give it an IP address 10.210.35.131/26.

     

    I configure 'host-input-traffic', for the following services 

     

    - ping

    -telnet

    -ssh

    -traceroute

    -http

     

    I commit config, then connect my PC to the fe-0/0/0 interface, and assign my PC an IP address of 10.210.35.130/26.

    With all these, I am able to ping the .131/26 but I cannot telnet.

     

    Is there anything obvious I am missing? Sorry I don't have the config now, Shall post the config tomorrow, but I'd appreciate ideas on what i'd be missing. I find this simple problem so it's eating me up 'foolishly'

     

    NB: SRX is currently on flow-mode.

    Have you enabled the telnet service on the system itself? (system -> services)

    Hi,

     

    No I haven't. Do I have to enable 'telnet' both at the system level, and also the 'interface/zone' level?

     

    that'd be interesting discovery. will try that tommorow.

    Hi Spud,

     

    It appears that was the problem. I configured 'telnet' under 'system-->services" and it worked.

     

    Never knew I had to configure at both levels. Many thanks.
