I was wondering if juniper EX-4200 and SRX could be in the virtual chassis mode or not. As per our clients requirement they are willing to use SRX-650 in HA mode as well as virtual chassis between EX-4200 and SRX-650.

I'm not sure what you're asking...

 

EX4200 switches support stacking in Virtual Chassis mode.  SRX650 devices can also be configured to use Virtual Chassis mode for HA, though it's a bit different than VC on the EX switches.

 

The two types of devices can't exist in the *same* VC.  VCs must be comprised of units of the same make and model.

Central management is best done through NSM or the up coming juniper SPACE product.

Right on what Keith said, you can't HA or VC a SRX650 to a EX4200.  The EX4200 supports VC of EX4200s, SRX650 supports HA with SRX650 to SRX650.

 

There is talks I think of having HA abilities between different models or SRXs, but not SRX to EX. 

 

 

EX 4XXX switches can be stacked in a VC with different models of EX 4XXX switches, however that is the most diverse mixing you can do.. In all other cases units in a VC need to be the same make and model.
