  • 1.  What Junos version to use on SRX3400 with LSYS license

    Posted 04-17-2013 12:50

    Hi Al,

I,m new to Juniper and I need to deploy a SRX3400 cluster with Logical Systems (Virtual Firewalls)

I will make use of around 4 or 5 LSYS

I would like to know if I am running the right JUNOS version to run LSYS

At the moment the SRX3400 are running 10.4R3.4

    --- JUNOS 10.4R3.4 built 2011-03-19 22:06:23 UTC

Already read some comments where it was mentioned to run a higher version otherwise LSYS is not suported

    I have checked here http://www.juniper.net/support/downloads/?p=srx3400#sw

But which one do I need if I need to upgrade the JUNOS version

    Thanks in advance

Logical systems appear to be supported on your platform beginning with Junos 11.4.  And since the JTAC recommended release for the SRX3400 is 11.4R7.5, I'd suggest that you upgrade to that firmware version.

    Hi All,

I have contacted Juniper and they supllied me with 11.4R7.5 and 12.1X44-D10.4

I had to upgrade from 10.4R3.4 to 11.4R7.5 first and then to 12.1X44-D10.4 but it worked and was able to create several LSYS

But what I find very strange is that when you purchase a new SRX3400 it is shipped with 10.4R3.4

Why not ship it with a more recent version with more features

    Guys thanks for the info

Do you know some handy docs and examples on how to configure the Lsys

The document looks like a place to start!

And if you're interested in my 2c I'd downgrade that box ot 11.4R7.5 if you're going to use it in production.  The exception would be if you need a feature in 12.1X44-D10.  Releases with higher Revision numbers are more mature and potentially have more of the kinks worked out of the system.  I tend to go with the JTAC recommended release on boxes carrying real business traffic.
